Let it never be said that one can be bored in Los Angeles. Just a glimpse at the schedule of Los Angeles festivals and city events reveals one of the largest Halloween festivals in the country, the Newport Harbor Christmas boat parade, the massive Southern California Renaissance Pleasure Faire, the oldest running indoor hot rod show in the country, an entire festival dedicated to the creamy green wonder that is guacamole, Brazilian street carnivals, jazz festivals, a lobster festival, gay pride parades, art festivals, film festivals galore and cultural gatherings that draw more attendance than the countries they represent. Seriously, with over 400 Los Angeles festivals populating the schedule, boredom only comes to those who aren’t willing to leave their homes.

Other City Events

City business is serious business, and officials work overtime to try and include as many voices and opinions as possible at events hosted around the city. Los Angeles’s other city events include such public gatherings and meetings as the annual LGBT Pride Parade and conferences about women’s issues that affect the personal and professional lives of all women. Teens have also begun to partake in the political process, organizing their own events to make sure their concerns are taken into account outside of their homes and schools.

Food Event/Festival

Los Angeles food event festivals are special for two reasons: one, the food is always amazing, and two, it gives the community a chance to converge and mingle in an unusual setting that is fun and entertaining for all. If it’s summer, it must be time for all the local food vendors, restaurants, and food trucks to deliver their special culinary concoctions to the taste buds of patrons who have come from miles around. As the local population grows and diversifies, these food event festivals become larger and more varied every year.

Music Festivals

There’s just something “special” about a live musical performance, which explains why Los Angeles music festivals continue to grow in popularity every season. Allowing musicians, fans, and critics alike to congregate in one setting to hear their favorite artists or genres on display allows everyone to discern where the music is headed, as well as introducing them to styles and artists they may never have heard of prior. Music festivals now regularly attract crowds that number into the hundreds of thousands, and occasionally even surpassing the one million attendees mark.

Children's Festivals & Events

Trying to get the kids away from their computer screens and televisions? Los Angeles children’s festivals and events are the perfect anecdote, encouraging children to not only move around physically, but to engage them in mental and creative activities that they have not yet experienced. Broadening their horizons, whether through an art fair, musical contest, or a sporting event, is exactly what children need to become fully formed adults.
