If you're a beer lover, heaven really is a place on earth and it's found in the form of a brewery. Nowhere else can one arrive to find a fresh selection of handcrafted brews cascading from taps like holy water accompanied, in most cases, by an outstanding selection of food. Popular amongst everyone from business execs to USC and UCLA students, Los Angeles breweries are the best place for anyone to fill their nightlife needs. Show up at happy hour and enjoy lower prices and tasty appetizers, or drop by for an amazing dinner and watch the sun set over LA with an ice-cold beer in hand. Since it's also a widely known fact that beer and sports go together like peanut butter and jelly, breweries are great places to enjoy your favorite game and an often-welcome alternative to the kitschy neon décor and wildly enthusiastic crowds found in sports bars.
Bonaventure Brewing Company
404 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, California; Tel. 213.236.0802
Sitting in downtown Los Angeles there is a hidden treasure in the Bonaventure Hotel. The restaurant and bar of Bonaventure Brewing Company is great for lunch and dinner as well as sitting down for a couple of cold brews—brewed on location—during their long happy hour. The view of LA at nighttime is a highlight at this fourth floor LA hotel bar and brewery. While businessmen relax here after work, there are still the occasional hotel guests and USC students that get their drinking fill at this elegant brewery. It's worth a visit to the Bonaventure Brewing Company for the original beers and Los Angeles skyline view. |
Father's Office
1018 Montana Ave., Santa Monica, California; Tel. 310.323.2337
Father's Office is an ode to an old-style drinking pub with its dim lighting, meager decor and a bar wall that reads like a war memorial of breweries. Nestled among Montana Avenue's designer boutiques, Father's Office is an easy place to pop in for a quick one while shopping. The tapas menu is very good and they grill up a mean "Office Burger." Even though Father's Office is primarily a drinking bar—the phone number is 310.323.BEER—the weekends seem to draw wealthy Hollywood socialites, all decked out and on those "late night" missions. Father's Office is so far an unspoiled gem.

Rosen Brewery and Restaurant
400 S. Western Ave., Los Angeles, California; Tel. 213.388.0061
The ideal place to dine before going just a few blocks to a show at the Wiltern Theatre, Rosen has a prime Koreatown location. The Los Angeles bar and restaurant puts their focus on serving the surrounding Koreatown neighborhood but everyone is welcome to this pleasant eatery. The vats of beer are visible behind glass and dark wood creates accents in the bar. Two large TVs and a patio are offered to Rosen Brewery patrons who don't want to miss a sports game or need a breath of fresh air. Not only is there good beer, Rosen also has a sushi bar, many appetizers, and a full dinner menu to LA patrons. |
