ABOUT THE ARTIST

These words convey action and a sense of commitment.  Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Obasogie Aimiuwu’s natural artistic ability was evident as early as elementary school.  Although he had never formally studied art before entering Auchi Polytechnic University, Aimiuwu continually amazed his professors at this institution with the quality and maturity shown in his artwork, even as a first year student.  Auchi Poly is an institution of higher learning in Nigeria with an arts program that attracts the most talented and promising students. Obasogie excelled during his first year and was accepted into a fine arts competition within the program that is usually reserved for fourth & final year students.
 
 Obasogie Aimiuwu is known and highly regarded for the  amazing imagination he displays in his artwork and the originality of each piece.  His statement:
                “My goal is to create art that is distinctive, original, creative, and unique.  My desire is that when people see my work for years to come, they will respect its originality and get a real sense of my passion for the arts.  My goal is not only to be creative, but to be innovative.  I take an aggressive approach to my art, integrating my creativity with experimentation and inventiveness.  My art crosses all boundaries and breaks barriers, in terms of ‘categorizing’ my art form.  I like to incorporate the element of design & an array of vivid colors, movements, shapes and light effects into my work to evoke emotions in those viewing my art.”
“Art is not my only passion; I love helping & inspiring others.  My ambition is to continue to grow as an artist, to be remembered for my compassion towards others, and to make history in art.”
